ʻAiea Loop Trailhead

Great hike on the longer side. Though it’s not particularly difficult, there are some narrow passageways with steep drops so would not recommend for kids.

Mostly shaded hike due to trees throughout trail. Hike took approximately 3 hours for the entire loop. Hike was moderately easy, just a bit long.

Great views along the way. Also tons of strawberry guava plants. Munch on a few along the hike.

To start: Drive all the way to the top parking lot/bathroom to begin loop.

End of loop: End will bring you out by middle level parking lot/bathroom. Then walk back up to parking spot.

Wear appropriate hiking shoes in the case it gets muddy. The hike has lots of shade from trees which takes the trail longer to dry after a rain.

We had opportunity to catch a rainbow right at the peak of the hike.

We found several great walking sticks. Placed them at the start of the hike. First come first serve.

This is my favorite hike because it’s under the shade 😆🥾 No need to worry about sunburn! I always like to see the load, sunlight filtering through trees. It’s so beautiful ✨

Bathroom is only the beginning of the trail.
Don’t go there the next day of raining 🙅‍♀️ It’s super muddy!
Otherwise, it is peaceful and calm trail🥰

Great 4.8 mile round trip hike in continous loop. If you're not up for the 5 mile hike, then start at the top of the loop and you will get great pictures of the valleys to the right and left of the ridge. Easy hike with very gradual incline.

Nice easy loop trail with a unique view of the highway and some cool plants and birds. We also saw some wild boars when driving up so that was cool. The trail is really easy but at parts will get your blood pumping a little. It's muddy so if it rains it would be harder but you could still get through without trouble I think. I'd recommend hiking shoes and adequate water. it's an easy hike but you also want it to be enjoyable. Restrooms at the start and a good amount of parking. Great hike for the dog.
