Diamond Head State Monument

Loved going here. I hiked to the top with my wife after we walked around and explored the area. It’s beautiful and well worth a visit if you are in Hawaii. We walked from Waikiki and it is a pleasant walk on a nice day. If you decide to go to the top make sure to bring plenty of water and take your time. Well worth visiting if in Hawaii.

Fairly easy hike with a great view of the island at the top.

Anyone with good breath control should be able to make the climb without stopping, but there's plenty of spots rest and take pictures if you so choose.

There was a food truck in the parking lot with cold treats and hot food, which I thought was a great way to end the trip.

This was a quick, easy hike for us that provided great views of the island. We went earlier in the morning to avoid big crowds, and this worked out great for us. Sometimes, we had to slow down our pace, but this wasn't a deal breaker. If you're looking for a family-friendly hike that isn't too terribly long, then this will be a good option.

Good hike. Lots of people no social distancing at all. Pillbox gets very packed with people fighting for pic opportunities. But the view is indeed incredible. Tips: (1) we took bus from Waikiki and it’s worth it given how expensive rental cars are these days. (2) The infamous pineapple smoothie - $12 - is kinda a ripoff but lots of people get it... (3) Shaved ice is good $4 is not crazy and it cools you down. (4) morning time seems to be most crowded. When we got down around 12pm, the number of people going up is significantly smaller. I’d imagine it should be less crowded in later PM. But morning time is definitely crowded. I saw some cars having to wait for parking spots... (visited June 8, 2021).

Great, short hike. It can be steep, but the ground is solid. Recommend going early to avoid rush coming in around 0830-0930. Honolulu Pineapple Co is a must visit after your hike. This would be a fun trail run when not too crowded. $10 to park, $5 to walk in, $5 per person to hike the actual trail (or free with Hawaii ID).
