Otherwise known as Goat Island. You are able to walk across to reef (low tide is best) and enjoy some time at a secluded beach. Mostly only the locals know about it. It is a rough 1/4 mile walk across, so water shoes, or even tennis shoes with thicker soles are a MUST!!
Always a great, and fun one with the ohana in tow. We've been going for many years. Always worth the cross to Mokuauia "goat island" each time we camp at Malāekahana!
Please respect and follow rules. Stay on the paths, do not bother wild life. Please, please pick up after yourselves, and your children. On our last visit two weeks ago, we found and picked up lots of trash. So sad. Let's all help keep it beautiful so many generations can continue to enjoy.
Best to go on low tide, and don't forget your water shoes! 😉
And no, there are no goats on the island.
amazing place, just swim there if conditions are right, (easier on the reef/ocean floor) but there's currents too. way back in the 90s i/we kayaked there and i proposed... of course respect the sea birds space by staying on the beach. aloha..........
Beautiful out of the way beach. Great area to have a quiet little beach time.
There isn’t a lot to do on the island as it is a bird sanctuary. Their is a nice beach area with shallow water with waves.
