My son is going to attend his 2nd year of Preschool for 2016-2017. There was no hesitation in my decision to send him to Children's House for his 1st year in 2015-2016! The teachers and the administration staff are so amazing. They have ALL participated in developing my son's academic and social experience! It's amazing to see how much my son had been exposed to in his first year!! Looking forward to what's in store for him in year #2.
Year #2 was another amazing year for my son! He is currently in his 3rd year Pre-Kindergarten. He is growing, learning, and exploring with so much encouragement from his teachers and administration.
DANK SCHOOL DANK TEACHERS SO GUD FUD
We started sending our daughter here 2 1/2 years ago for pre-k. At the time, we were looking at possibly getting her into Punahou, Kamehameha, or Iolani for kindergarten the following year. As such, when they told us they were a "feeder" school for those schools we liked it. She did extremely well the first sememster. However, it seemed to us that after the testing period for the other schools was over, she plateaued. We began to wonder if that's all this school was about - simply grinding the kids through prep for the other schools' testing processes. However, due to our daughter being a full year, or more, younger than most kids applying to the other schools, and not being selected, we kept her at The Children's House. It turned out to be merely a blip. She has exploded in her academics through kindergarten and now halfway through first grade. We could not be happier. She is, to no short degree, far, far ahead of other children her age in other schools (this is unfortunately viewed when other parents brag on their children's education, and it is very visibly a year or so behind where our daughter is).
They take security seriously, as the school is extremely safe from outsiders, which we appreciate a lot.
The grounds are beautiful and very conducive to a proper learning environment.
We love the type of guidance and structure she receives here. It is a very happy place, but they realize the need to be appropriately strict when it is necessary.
We also love how they manage to teach so much of the Bible, while still getting her to perform so well academically.
Be prepared to really take part in your child's education once they hit kindergarten. While they are learning to be responsible people, it requires a responsible parent for your child to go here. They recognize the value of the parents in the child's education, so again, be prepared. It's all for the child's sake.
From morning drop-off, to parent involvement, to the staff knowing you and your child, this place is just like one big family. We are glad she didn't get into one of the other schools. We love it here.
We will be sending our second daughter there for their preschool program in the spring.
