That's a wicked area south of the out let, easy walk but can get rough or soggy.
Access to some flatwater that flows through Blackrock canyon. No goose poop! Facilities are in good shape.
Park has a poorly placed volleyball court... One side is under a pine tree which litters the sand with needles, bark, and other pokey unpleasantness
Lucky Peak state is a 240 acres recreation area near Lucky Peak Lake. Its elevation is 2750 ft. It is only 15 minutes away from Boise.
The discovery park is just below the dam and adjacent to Sandy point. From there you can see the dam's overflow chutes. The scenery here is really beautiful. This park is the perfect place for kayaking, canoeing, bird watching and picnicking. There are shelters, picnic tables, grills and clean restroom on the spot. You can see deer and hawks at the spot.
I used to go there with my friends for picnic. The calm beautiful scenery from the park is just mesmerizing. If you are in Boise, It is a must place to visit.
Fantastic place to paddle board. Just a hop skip outside of Boise, beautiful scenery and a nice lazy current to carry you down. Usually the wind will carry you back up as well, so not strenuous either direction.
This is a great park for learning how to kayak, paddleboard, etc on a very calm section of river. The river access is limited and can get slippery due to use. Variety of tables with lots of shade. It is very dog friendly though so take care. A majority of the dog companions we see are responsible and clean up. Fun place for the older kids but no playground areas for the little ones. Also no camping.
