(October 11, 2018, 7:02 pm)I've been bringing my 7-year-old nephew to class at this academy for over three months, and he LOVES it. Because I'm a professional instructional designer with a PhD in Instructional Technology, I've been critiquing the teaching methods used at the academy while I watch my nephew practice. And I can say without reservation that the quality of instruction at this academy is outstanding! The physical skills of jiu jitsu are taught using effective instructional strategies that are well-supported by empirical research. I am especially impressed with the level of immediate corrective feedback given during instruction, which is the key to learning how to do things right the first time. Also, the attitudes and values of respect, courage, determination, conscientiousness, friendliness, cleanliness, and humility are reinforced repeatedly through both direct instruction and through the entire culture of the academy. If you want your child to learn not only self-defense but also true grit, you will find exactly what you need at this academy.
(September 7, 2017, 12:22 am)I've been taking the classes for about a month now and I've felt stronger physically and definitely more prepared to defend myself in the event of an attack. I really enjoy the environment. I would feel comfortable bringing my little siblings here to learn. The instructor is very knowledgeable and patient and pushes you to work hard and stay focused. Also, if finances are the reason you aren't coming...it's not a good enough reason. Talk to the instructor. You won't regret it!!!
(July 24, 2017, 10:49 pm)Great learning environment! Lou is an exceptional instructor, and he is very attentive with all his students. Everyone learns at their own pace and all egos are left at the door. Very humbling and respectable class. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested! Get in here and give it a shot, you won't be disappointed!
(April 14, 2017, 10:29 pm)My 8 year old son has been attending this academy for almost two months now and I'm beyond happy with it. My son loves it and always looks forward to his next class to learn new moves and just have fun! Lou is a great instructor and couldn't ask for better! Great environment for all ages. Highly recommended!
