Numerous flight school options available, including tailwheel, reasonable fuel prices, and an airport cafe on field.
Of all the industrial parks i have had the pleasure of sitting next to while in a standstill on the interstate for over an hour, this is hands down one of my favorites. Oh look, traffic just moved forward 18 feet, time to start my car.
Took a two hour helicopter ride with SilverHawk. It was fantastic flying over the Sawtooths and back down the Boise River.
I've been into all 3 of the Treasure Valley airports a lot, as an instructor and a local pilot, and Caldwell has the best runway and surrounding environment. The helicopter training is super busy, but they do a very good job maintaining radio awareness and staying out of the way of the airplanes. It's a great airport to learn to fly, thanks to the varied traffic, yet not so crowded it is difficult to fly in, and the close proximity to Class C airspace at Boise.
I'm giving this industrial airport 4 stars. It's one of the best industrial airports I've ever seen on google. I've never been there but it just looks like a great runway. It's the kind of runway I'd like to land an airplane on, if i knew how. It also looks like it would be appropriate for take-offs and possibly taxiing. I don't know what kind of snack bar they have (or if they have one) but I bet they sell food and drinks there. Really what more could you ask for?
