My place of worship with wonderful, caring people. I have attended in different chapels when traveling or moving, and every congregation feels like home!
Met many friends
Some of the best people on God's green earth, I love fellowshipping with this amazing group of people who are trying to be like Jesus. No one is perfect here but we are all trying to be better individuals each day.
A beautiful place to worship Jesus Christ our Savior.
As I was growing up I tried different churches. When I discovered The Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints I knew I found something special and right. I became a member of the Church but began to backslide and drift away because I was still hanging around people who only cared for themselves. Here is my story of how I came back to the church.
One late evening I was driving my truck and had some extra parts in the bed of the truck, including the old engine I had the mechanic replace. The road was like a washboard, terrible shape. As I was at a light and started to go a few feet the old engine I had the mechanic change shifted positions because of the old oil was leaking from it and they didn't chain it down. The motor kit my tailgate and it slammed open willing the old engine out on the road.
I stopped ,got out of my truck and was trying to roll the engine to the concrete median so no one would hit it. I almost had the engine out of the way when I saw bright lights coming at me. I tried to get out or the Toyota Corolla's way but I didn't make it. My right leg was between the engine and the cars bumper when he hit me, the engine, and my parked truck. I was thrown against my trucks tailgate and bounced into a van going by.
A lady stuck her head out her window asking if I was ok. I grunted out saying I was ok but I was gonna kick the guys butt who hit my truck. I turned to go "chat" with the individual who hit me when i fell to the ground. I was confused because I know I felt my leg move but I fell down instead.
I started checking to see if I was really ok. I looked down and my right boot was facing me in an impossible position . I realized then that my leg was between the engine and the car bumper when I was hit.
I was angry and confused at first then I realized that I needed to get a tourniquet on or I was going to die. The operator of the vehicle got out, then his girlfriend got out as well as the other three people from the back seat. By that time the police was arriving and I was hit with the reality of the situation, "am I going to die?" A friend came running out of the local meeting house for AA. She came to me and held my hand during this ordeal until the ambulance arrived to take me to the hospital. I knew I better make peace with my maker because I might not make it. I prayed so hard asking for forgiveness. I explained that I didn't want to die and wanted to see my daughter I had never seen. As I was praying a soothing calm came over me. I felt that a choice was being presented to me. I could lay back and close my eyes and go to sleep for my last time , or I could choose to overcome this. Well obviously I chose the latter. I felt gods love for me and I wanted to get my life on track again and stop drinking and partying most of the time.
That night was my miracle for Me. Yes, I lost my leg and nearly died; but it was a small thing compared to getting close with Jesus. While I was in the hospital some missionary elders visited me and I started the journey back towards Christ instead of running away. That night I will never forget because I have gained so much more than what was lost. I am married and sealed to my wife and 3 kids now. I bear my testimony that God loves and this is the true Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. God is waiting to help you too,( and you don't need to have what happened to me to return to Christ). Heavenly father loves us and we have to want to hear him. That is how this wonderful journey starts. Investigate the church, read the book of Mormon and decide for yourself. Pray and you will receive your answers. Is this a guarantee that nothing bad will ever happen to you or me. No that's just life. We are placed here for a purpous. We all have the choice to follow Christ or go back to what you are doing and see if that's ok with you.
So pray, read the book of Mormon, and you decide. I got my answers, go and find yours.
