“It's a beautiful spot! The fountain is breathtaking with a fantastic view of the skyline behind it. The park area surrounding it is just as beautiful. I never realized there was a small rose garden before the fountain. Definitely a sight worth seeing, and great backdrop for portraits/photography shoots. Definitely a must visit if you’re downtown Chicago in the summer! It’s a huge open platform area with a huge fountain in the middle that is just the perfect, beautiful place on a hot summer day. It’s very huge and just beautiful and when the wind blows, you get the mist on your face and it feels so good. Sometimes they play beautiful classical music there and you feels so grand with the beautiful music and the huge fountain! It’s right across the street from the lake so from there I’d recommend to cross the street and take a walk along the lake to the shed aquarium or to navy pier. The fountain is definitely one of my favorite summer spots in Chicago. In the evening it even light up with all these different color and looks so cool!”

“Beautiful lake-front park. Take a break after a day of museum-going, or go for a nice run in the morning. An easy walk from the museums to Buckingham Fountain as well.”

“A quiet respite from Millennium Park and the Mag Mile. Plenty of park benches in the shade and sun. Only action is watching seagulls resting atop Sir Georg Solti’s head bust and the occasional Segway tourists practicing how to avoid crashing into people.”

“*Free*The Art Institute South Garden steps from Michigan Ave was designed by Dan Kiley and dedicated in 1967. The garden contains honey locust trees, cockspur hawthorn trees, low lying shrubs and bushes, and season interest bulbs and plantings. A sculpture 'Fountain of the Great Lakes' or 'Ladies of the Lakes' designed by Master Sculptor Lorado Taft 1860-1936 was dedicated in 1913. Taft was a devoted artist and created many interesting sculptures in his lifetime. Research wikipedia for an extensive list of sculptural images.”
