Very affordable and cozy studio in Ukrainian Village. The sound engineer and owner, Fabien, is Belgian and his mixes reflect the European style. My band a very good experience recording at Fabsound and found Fab low-key and very relaxed and not as intimidating as some sound engineers can be. We recorded using the studio's drums and at least one of the amps. No ProTools here, just good old-fashioned analog mixing done by a seasoned music industry professional who has worked as an engineer and musician.

I've been in bands for 12+ years, including 7+ years in Chicago. This is the best place to rehearse in Chicago. Music garage and all of the other hourly places are a total ripoff and have very tight scheduling constraints. Fabien is a nice guy and will help you out and work with your schedule. My band recently recording, mixed and mastered a 6-song demo at FabSound. Based on the time and money spent within our budget, we were satisfied with the result. Fabien treated us as professionals, offering suggestions but always letting us drive the process. He also gave us discounts on the recording as we also used his studio as a rehearsal "staging" venue before we actually recorded (THAT was hugely beneficial for us). We thought his pricing was very competitive, and again, it fit very well within our budget. Fabsound Records is a great place to record a seasoned band's demos and masters. If you like traditional recording and mixing techniques, this is the place for you. I have been recording a collaborative project for two years now and I never felt pressured by Fabien; he has always been very accomodating. Professional attitude, straight to the point.
