  While the basement fire I experienced in my apartment building occured 2 1/2 years ago, I have since stayed in touch with the Schoeneman organization (primarily with their outside public adjusters Steve and Jon) given the positive vibe and respect that developed from the excellent service they provided.
  
  The damage was extensive and because of the various types of claims that needed to be covered - loss of rental income, furnishings, tenant issues, reconstruction, etc. - I needed an effective buffer with the insurance company that could provide a one-stop-shop expertice in these areas. I carefully evaluated 3-4 public adjuster firms and decided to hire A. Schoeneman, primarily because of recommendations by previous clients and Steve's and Jon's no-nonsense response to my specific questions.
  
  Once I've signed on, I mostly dealt with their office people - Ron and Mitch Schoeneman and Mary Jo, who was an expert with maximizing content replacement value. I must say that my experience with them surpassed my expectations, particularly with their handling of my rental loss claim, compensation for wall paintings and furnishings (units were furnished) and seamless top-notch work by their construction crew.
  
  There was slim to zero chance that I would have done better dealing directly with my insurance company, if for no other reason than that I was stressed and really had no time to deal with the onerous details involved. My sincere thanks to the entire A. Schoeneman organization for a job well done!

  Great people! Amazing service! I highly recommend this company to whomever wants to get the most buck from their insurance claim.
  They took care of more than one claim for me so far and I will keep using them and keep recommending.
  Very happy with outcome every time we needed help.
  You will not find anyone better!! 100% 5 stars!!

  A. Schoeneman & Co. is a family run business, spanning three generations, and when you call on them in your time of need, they make you feel like part of the family.
  
  After a bad storm a few years ago, the basement of my mother's ranch house had two feet of water. The basement, at the time, was primarily used as a laundry room and for storage (clothes, antiques, furniture, etc.). Everything was ruined. The furniture suffered water damage, the flooding had begun to eat away at the dry wall, and our clothes and family heirlooms floated about the room. My mom was a mess, she was worried about her stuff, and already stressed about dealing with the insurance company.
  
  In the past year, a close friend, living in a three story house, experienced an electrical fire in their basement. The basement was a family space filled with children's toys, electronics, pictures, art supplies, etc. The fire left the basement unrecognizable and smoke damage consumed the rest of the house nearly reaching the top floor. My friend and his wife weren't sure where to start, or who to call.
  
  In both cases, we called A. Schoeneman & Co.
  
  Mary Jo, was in charge of contents, and she was on the scene in no time. She dug through both messes, and worked with my mom, and my friend, to make sure everything was accounted for when we presented a full claim to the insurance company. The stress of going through the stuff, in both cases, was gone. Having someone else there, spending as much time as needed, identifying what was lost so that it could be replaced, lifted an enormous weight off of our shoulders.
  
  Mitch, Ron's son and Alan's grandson, was our next point of contact. He talked us through the process, and always stayed in communication. It was helpful to understand why things take a certain amount of time. Having someone who is knowledgable about the insurance claims process, empathetic to our needs, and capable of results was invaluable to the process.
  
  Subsequently, Ron and Alan were able to help with the construction after the claim was done. Thanks to Ron and Alan, my mother was able to get her basement redone with a quick turn around, leaving it in better shape than it was before. Similarly, they had a crew on the site at my friend's house, the moment they finished cataloging the contents, so that he and his wife could return to their home as soon as possible.
  
  I cannot recommend A. Schoeneman & Co. highly enough. They got us through some of the worst disasters that we were not prepared to face. Fire and floods are scary and hard. This is a good family to have on your side.

  If I could give Ron & Mitch 10 stars, I would. Truly an amazing, well-structured company that over-promised AND over-delivered. I had a terrible flood in my house in Northbrook and was referred to Ron and Mitch by a close friend. At the time, I was in a state of shock and panicking. I've never dealt with flood damage before and lost 70% of my belongings. A. Schoeneman & Co. rushed over and calmed me and my wife down in a way that I didn't think was possible. They handled all of my insurance claims and got me an amazing value for all my belongings. Every contractor they sent out was incredible experienced and completed their jobs 3-4 days before the promised completion date (truly amazing when dealing with construction). Mitch was there to supervise every sub-contractor and stayed until 8 PM when needed. In 3 months - I nearly had a new house!
  
  I am shocked at the 1-star review given previously to mine. I truly could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you A. Schoeneman & Co. for literally saving me through my crisis. You guys are all amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

  On November 18, 2016, we experienced a devastating fire. It was a complete loss. All our personal possessions were destroyed but the greatest loss of all was that of our pets. Not one made it out alive.
  
  Distraught and devastated doesn't even begin to describe how we felt. Personal items can always be replaced but not the little lives we had come to love through the years. We were barely able to function until we were advised about A. Schoeneman and the roll of a Public Adjuster in an insurance claim. They intervene and represent the homeowner in claims to make sure you get what is coming to you.
  
  They spent days going through the rubble in cold and inclement weather of the little that was left and were invaluable in helping us reconstruct from memory, the remainder of the items that were completely destroyed. A task we considered impossible.
  
  Finally came the final phase of our ordeal, the demolition of the place we called home for all those years. Again, A. Schoeneman made all the necessary arrangements for this difficult task. The company used for the demolition did a wonderful job and their workers were very kind and supportive since they understood this was a challenging and emotional time for us. They even took time out to allow us to salvage any additional items revealed during the demolition. Although it wasn't much, it wasn't due to their lack of trying or compassion rather than there was little which survived.
  
  We have since purchased a new home and are starting over. Rebuilding at our former location wasn’t an option since the memories would be far too difficult to endure. We could never be happy there again. But thanks to A. Schoeneman and their guidance, we were able to recoup our home’s depreciated value making the purchase of our new home viable. Our insurance carrier has been quite supportive and sympathetic to our loss, for which we are grateful, but we are sure we are the exception rather than the rule when it comes to other carriers.
  
  All in all, a terrible and catastrophic situation was made easier to bear thanks to them. I was able to keep my wife "out of the loop" during the process since the entire situation was quite difficult for her to accept as it was for me. A. Schoeneman made a bitter pill much easier to swallow. Thanks to you and you staff, we are now rebuilding our lives. For that we will always be grateful.
