“The off-leash area is great to get exercise and exploring time with your dog. The forest preserve offers free poop bags and water so the membership fee is well worth it. The best thing to do is go online to register because you can't do so at this entrance where it is locked and members only have access. There is an area that's open to the public but your dogs have to stay on leash and there isn't as many nice trails for dogs to walk through without getting really muddy.”

“Out of the cook county dog parks this is by far the best. They volunteers here do a fair job of keeping the agressive dogs out. The dog owners are great about picking up after thier pups. You also get all the benifits of a lake, wooded area, and an open grass land for your dog to enjoy.”

“I'm 60 and I've been going to the River Trail Nature Center since I was a kid. In fact, I'm sure that my father was younger than I am now the first time he took me. Today's visit was just a quick one on the way to running errands so we didn't have time to hike the trails which are beautiful this time of year but I still managed to see a red-headed woodpecker up close, as well as the coyote, bald eagle, and other owls and hawks that they have on display in enclosures, and walk down to watch the river slowly winding through a series of bends under the overhanging fall foliage. For a city boy it's an easy way to get a little more in touch with nature.”
