Grassy Ridge Meadow

Well-maintained, serene spot for parking to spend my lunch hour. Many bring their dogs there to run in the meadow. Pond, birds, nature make for a beautiful rest area from all the hustle and bustle.

This overlooked forest preserve area is rarely busy unless there is a soccer game, even on weekends. The Paul Douglas Trail is a paved 7.2 mile loop that's great for biking, running, etc. Sometimes the west side of the loop floods, but you can detour onto a road. The wetlands are good for birdwatching--I've seen sandhill cranes here.

Other reviewer is wrong. Fishing IS allowed. There is a decent pond where you can cast ashore. Lots of catfish
