“We appreciate reviews, but sometimes clarification needs to be made. This post is for clarification regarding another review. 1. OLDN is not a Catholic school. The review stated twice we were Catholic. As much as we appreciate and love our Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ, we are not a Catholic school. 2. We do not hold children by their arms if they are misbehaving. We do redirect children and give love hugs when they are in danger of hurting themselves, others, or trying to run out of the room. 3. This is a tuition-based school. We are not a public school. Therefore, parents have to pay tuition. While it is always difficult to enforce payment, teachers must be paid and therefore tuition must be on time. Some monies, such as deposits, are non-refundable. 4. It can be difficult for preschool children who have been only at home to acclimate to school and social environments. They may cry and not want to leave mom or dad. Our teachers are experts at motivating children to stay and it has been our experience that once parents leave, children become engaged with the other children in the room and learn to enjoy school and social activities. It is essential for parents to work with the teachers for children to be successful in school.”

“Great school focuses on education, fun and ANTI-BULLYING. I have nieces and nephews in various schools in Oak Lawn, Palos, Orland, Tinley, this is the only elementry school in all the schools we experienced that focuses most on anti bullying. They are also hands down the only school that makes sure the kids understand the material given, sure if your kid is smart he/she will have no problems anywhere, but there are kids who need extra time and work to get it, Ridge Lawn makes it happen. My daughter loved her last year here with Mrs. Spencer who did an amazing job in transforming my daughter into a book lover, Mentioning Mrs. Spencer alone is injustice to the rest of the staff, everyone deserves a medal from the custodians to the Principle!! The only thing I was sad to see go is "GAT" which is unfair to some really gifted students. I hope they bring it back.”
