I've never utilized this companies service but from a social services and reentry standpoint, this company and their services are needed for the proper reentry and reintegration of formerly justice involved individuals. Without services like this, you can expect new arrests in the form of technical violations at the very least. I am grateful there are kind humans out there who care about the reentry and safety of the community.
With the assistance of NewDay Apartments, I was able to secure an apartment within a week that meets the ILDOC requirements. NewDay explained their application process and returned phone calls and emails quickly. Everyone deserves a chance and NewDay Apartments is providing a service to reintegrate non-violent offenders back into the community.
I found NewDay when, after weeks of searching for an apt. that would accept someone on the registry, I was referred to a religious organization who in turn referenced the Education Justice Project from the University of Illinois. Their document "Mapping Your Future" lists NewDay Apartments, and also contains good information on many other subjects.
NewDay is servicing their community by providing a stable environment and employment for registrants. Registrants that are released without housing and employment are more likely to reoffend. NewDay provides daily services, supervision and resources to registrants to ensure they are following the law and the community remains safe.
Many folks respond negatively to programs like this without thinking things through. Our justice system is intended to have individuals pay their debt to society and then reintegrate.
By providing homes, oversight, and resources to these individuals, NewDay is providing a valuable service to the community, as well as to the registrants, by helping them have a stable environment and find gainful employment. Registrants that are provided an opportunity to be active in our society have MUCH lower recidivism, whereas people that are left to the streets are highly likely to reoffend.
NewDay is very active with their residents and ensures that all laws and regulations are being followed to the letter. Their main focus is community safety and they do that well. They do the work that many won’t and should be commended for their dedication and care.
