My wife and I visited Sedgebrook in November, and were very impressed with many of the attributes of the place. As we toured the facility, we saw many residents in the public areas, participating in activities, and interacting, a real positive. There is a diverse range of attractive residential floor plans, the facilities are very well kept up and clean. We also appreciated the spacious grounds, and landscaping which gave the appearance of an attractive campus. We also must express our thanks to our contact Katie Gomez , who was just outstanding in her professionalism, responsiveness, and kindness as we explored our options at Sedgebrook.
We moved into Sedgebrook 7 years ago. One of the best moves we made. Both of us joined committees and stayed busy, met lots of people and made new friends who still are people to go to when you need someone. You can stay busy or not but you are not alone. The staff is great. The food good and mealtimes a great time to socialize. You will be glad you did.
Sedgebrook has been a superb home for many years for both my parents; we have been thrilled with this place. It's one thing to have lovely, safe, comfortable facilities as they do here. But when picking a home of this type, I think the key factor is the staff quality--this is Sedgebrook's greatest asset. Everyone, from expert doctors in the outstanding medical center to housekeepers, custodians, security, food service, program people, and many more--they are so kind, warm, personable, patient, and genuinely caring. They treat people as they would members of their own family. At Sedgebrook, I wouldn't describe that as "icing on the cake" -- I would say it's the cake itself.
Visited Sedgebrook last week. Comprehensive community with health services, great. Activities and numerous other services and offerings. While in surface seems expensive considering the 90% refund when you leave a bargain Staff is very welcoming and friendly.
After my visit I leased a unit and can’t wait to move
My parents first moved into Sedgebrook a few years ago because they could no longer live fully independently in a condo. I spent three months visiting and touring other facilities, including some of the alleged best and was not impressed. Then a train friend mentioned that her Uncle was at Sedgebrook and that it was amazing. She was spot on.
First, the facility is beautiful, immaculate, maintained, and uplifting with no dreadful smell. Not in the restaurants, hallways, various play and recreational areas, computer room, bathrooms, and entertainment rooms. Everywhere is modern, with emergency pull cords and automatic door openings with a obvious focus on comfort and convenience.
The individual independent units are top shelf. They come in various sizes and are absolutely lovely and fully maintained by the maintenance department. Even its on campus nursing home is gorgeous. The hallways for both are colorful, spacious, with windows and pretty designs and pictures on the walls and sitting areas throughout. This scenic pristine environment allows residents to enjoy a productive fun life and for family members to have pleasurable visits, including in the outside patios, restaurants, work out and weight rooms, pool, sauna, salon and so much more. There are scheduled daily activities that are run by caring and knowledgeable staff.
The restaurants are awesome. The food is great, inexpensive, and the variety is plentiful with smiling staff serving food during breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also order food to be delivered to your room. There is a grocery store with food and toiletries and free coffee in the lobby.
The staff at Sedgebrook, from the front desk attendants, restaurant servers, activity supervisors, maintenance personnel, general service and health care supervisors, finance and sales department employees and physical therapists to the fitness trainers are thoughtful, caring and well trained.
There is a medical center with extremely well qualified medical personnel who really care about the residents and can easily be reached after hours. When my father died a couple years ago, the Sedgebrook staff was there to assure that he was properly cared for and because the nursing home, (Radford Green) was only yards away, my mother could visit daily and eat at the beautifully decorated restaurant within that facility. I will never forget the kindness and skill set of all the CNA's, nurses, and physicians, Drs. Jenson and Kroger.
The physical therapy department is so in tune for the needs of the elderly and can even perform therapy in the resident's home, if needed. When my parents first moved in they had difficulty walking. After a few weeks of being at Sedgebrook, their walking significantly improved, thanks to the physical therapy department. Movement is easy, since all the different areas (residents, dining, therapy, recreation etc) are connected through inside hallways with benches and seats throughout.
Today, my mother will have hospice come to her residence. The doctors at Sedgebrook are available for her and helping assure she does not suffer. She and my father have had a good life at Sedgebrook including many fun visits. My kids loved the burgers at the Bistro.
Sedgebrook also stepped up during the pandemic and instituted policies that to this day keep the residents safe, including delivering meals to the units to stop any spread. And the communication it provides to the residents' families regarding COVID is outstanding and second to none.
Sedgebrook has given new meaning to the golden years. I am forever grateful. For years to come, I will be able to latch on to the happy memories of the time I spent with my parents at Sedgebrook, including the peaceful and healing walks on the grounds and sitting while looking out at the beautiful ponds and garden areas. It is not a place to wait to die. It is a place to enjoy life and live with dignity and respect. Truly, a wonderful place to live.
