Starting point for Autism of Illinois Fund Raiser bike ride. Location is always very clean. Bathrooms are open to the homeless so sometimes there not in the best of shape. Illinois should be commended for the Madison County Trail
It's a good place to start a ride on MCT.
If you live in Saint Louis and you want to use the excellent, paved MEPRD Bike Trails, this is a good place to start. Parking is secure and there are flush bathrooms. I ride with a group that meets here weekly at 9am. We ride together on the MEPRD Trails, eat lunch somewhere along the ride, then return to our cars here. You can leave your house in St Louis at 8 am, ride, eat lunch, ride some more for a total of about 40 miles, and be home around 2pm. Great way to spend the day. This particular Trailhead is a great place for St Louis and Illinois bike riding friends to meet up.
Beautiful location and well appointed trailhead for the Madison County Trails. There are we'll kept bathrooms, tools for emergency repairs, and of course plenty of water options. If you desire a quick bite, Culver's is a scant 200 yards away.
Loved the pavement and the absence of automobile traffic. No hills though, nice leisurely, no stress ride. There are 7 different trails and most can be linked to provide an overall ride of 25-40 miles if you structure it right. If you're not a strong rider you'll love these trails. 😀
