Horseshoe is such a beautiful state park. Great spots to have a picnic and take in views of the lake. There's also plenty of walking paths and places to explore.
For such a beautiful spot if certain spots were upket such as playgrounds for kids would be fantastic. Otherwise it's beautiful but needs to be federally funded to make it the place it deserves to be.
Affordable campsite just outside of downtown. Beautiful campground with water and fire pits. Great for a one night stay if your in the city, easy to reserve. Only complaint is the bathrooms.
The island trail get's a lot of slack but if you're looking for a relaxed walk in nature then this is great. Just don't expect to see much of the lake, and wear shoes that can get muddy. I like the island a lot and took my dog there for walks. We've seen deer and a ton of birds. Not a ton of people on the island so it's quiet.
