Got a great haircut by Betty Davis. Just passing through but if I find myself in the Ft. Worth area again and need a haircut I would not hesitate to come back here.”

“My son is in the 7th grade now but I loved when he was in the intermediate school. They were really good to him. He had no learning difficulties and he had no behavioral problems but he seemed to always get the one-on-one attention he wanted when he needed to get some extra help. I'm glad that he's been in the Helena School district since first grade. He was in adamsville before for kindergarten and he was the smartest kid in the class and broke his leg and didn't go to school for 3 months and still was smarter than all the other kids and passed without any extra work to be done and then he started first grade at Helena and we realized how far behind he had become in Jefferson County schools. I pray my child never has to go to Jefferson County schools. Shelby County is my home I went to Vincent high School and no it's not the best school but I got a better education than my husband did in Jefferson County.”

“After living in Hamel for years, circumstances in 2013 dictated a temporary move to Edwardsville. I have since moved back to Hamel, but even during my exile to E’ville, sometimes I’d drive the extra 10 miles to use the Hamel Post Office. This is nothing against the fine folks at the Edwardsville branch, but like so many things in my adopted home town, the staff at the Hamel Post Office embodies the very best of small town America: personal, personable, & professional. In short, you just couldn’t ask for better service or nicer people.”

“We had a good experience at Stay & Play Dare Care. The building was always impeccably clean and smelled very nice. The rooms are organized with fun toys. Any time we would come in, our 1 (almost 2) year old was listening to music or toddling around. They did activities that he really learned from. My son was born extremely early and was behind. We believe that he began walking sooner, talking sooner, and memorizing things sooner because of daycare. It helped his social skills too. They encouraged his learning. His teacher would do sweet little crafts on holiday. We really appreciated Miss Kay. She also would text cute videos to us and take pictures of him. She is very professional, good at what she does, and trust worthy. Our son liked her and felt comfortable with her. I would absolutely trust her with him again. They did fun table activities and took photos as well. I appreciate daycare teachers immensely due to how hard they work and how little they are paid. The rate here was more than fair and within our budget. I did not find that the daycare allowed sick children and when covid hit, they took precautions. We ended up having to pull our son out due to COVID as he has a chronic lung condition. But I think Stay & Play was a good choice and would go there again. Any and every day care is going to have poor reviews as people get upset and need an outlet to air their grievances. Give little weight to negative reviews. Check the DCFS inspections and see what DCFS found wrong and how it was corrected. Also check out their facebook for cute photos and more reviews. I think Stay and Play is a great choice and has the bonus of being easier on the budget.”

“I send my children to St. Paul's Lutheran School not only for a quality education, but for the Christian environment that it provides. The school is small enough that the teachers truly get to know every child. Teachers pray for their students and their families and students learn to be comfortable praying in all situations throughout the day. I know the families of all of the kids in both of my children's classes which has been incredibly helpful in many situations. I know that my kids are making lasting memories with Christian friends as they build relationships with their classmates each day. I love the fact that when my kids are in 7th and 8th grade, they will get confirmation class in place of religion that they receive in the lower grades. This means that they don't have to spend Wednesday evenings in confirmation class as the public school students at our church do and we get more time together as a family. St. Paul's also provides other great opportunities for students such as music, PE, and art classes, sports, and an annual musical. These programs allow all students to participate, gaining more experience. The reason that I give four stars rather than five is that I would like to see a few more students enrolled at this amazing school, providing friendship, taking advantage of the great Christian foundation that it provides, and creating a great future for our community.”

Small thing that made a big difference in my experience was they post the color of the day on the back of the sandwich board as well as on the front so that if I missed it, I can see it without going all the way back to the front door. It was well organized, and even though it was a bit crowded when I went, I had plenty of room to navigate without bumping into other people.”
