I have taken my children to Dr Castillo for years and always got great care, but luckily for me my kids are healthy so only 1 visit a year or less. The real test was when my mom had to switch primary care doctors during a difficult time (her reg PC was leaving and she had just started having life altering medical issues that put her out of work indefinetely). However, Dr Virani was great and laid our concerns about the transition to rest. He took the time to care, listen, and be thorough. My mom, and our family, feel she can get on top of this and recover with the right doctors who offer resources and tools to help you help yourself. Doctors like him.
You need to self advocate these days with so many doctors who are just to busy for the details. However, work WITH your doctor, be realistic and know that doctors are not Gods and they don't have all the answers or miracle cures. Even though our society would have you believe there is a quick fix pill for everything, that is not true and often times those pills only mask, complicate, or even compound problems. The human body is an amazing thing and with the right tools and lifestyle choices it can heal itself of many things. Be willing to make lifestyle changes and help yourself, then find a doctor who is on board with your determination to get better or beat whatever ails you and supports your endeavor of better understanding, making changes, and finding a path to getting better.

I've had nothing but good experiences with Dr. Virani. I don't see him very often, so every time is like the first time (I think half of Harvard uses him!) but I've been very satisfied with the care I've received.
