Cheap place to chill
Fine camping for the price, facilities are a little old, and need a little maintenance.
This is a great place for family to go for a picnic and be able to fish or swimming or camping.(no on duty lifegard) Very clean Place kept up very well Grass Is Always cut trash picked up. It has a lot of campgrounds it has a shower house wheelchair accessible. Very clean. Cleaned twice a day. (4-wheelers allowed) electricity hookup for campers and even tent campers you pay a little extra for the electric but well worth it if it's 90 degrees out and you need a fan or a refrigerator you need to keep things cool.
Could not have met a better group of people!! They made me feel like family
Info: open to public. Non-members can pay a small fee ($3 for kids $5 for adults) to swim or fish for the day. It's a pretty decent place to do either or both.
Be aware that if you go here to fish weedless and top water rigs are best. The fishing waterway has bottom pine-tree like plant life everywhere. Not a good place for crank or jerk baits. And beware of the turtles! I was float fishing with minows and there were 2 turtles taking my bait almost immediately aftet it landed. It was funny because a few times one of them bit the minows head off and somehow re-hooked it behind the dorsal fin for me and gave the rest of it back. I was rigging them through the lips. The same turtle did this multiple times. They're giant sized red ear slider turtles. One of them was about 12" around and fat so it's likely they steal a lot of fisherman's live bait. I didn't see any snappers.
I saw bass frye and very small large mouths in the water but didn't catch anything. The turtles wouldn't leave my minows alone long enough for anything else to get at them. Someone who seemed to be a regular there said he caught 8 bass on a popper recently.
