We’ve seen their leadership skills sharpened, critical thinking skills honed and how well they have been able to work collaboratively with their peers. The four C’s of twenty-first Century skills are critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and communication. Acton helps to develop each of these skills in a developmentally appropriate way. I love how they allow our children to read their choice of books during drop everything and read time, allow plenty of outside recess and have quests where they work together to solve real world problems. During core skill time they work on reading, writing and arithmetic. Each of our kids have excelled by working at their own levels, setting goals and achieving them! One of our children is Dyslexic and Acton has been the perfect environment to allow him to work using his strengths while still working on individualized core skills. Our daughter loves “writer’s workshop” where she gets to write to a real audience by writing letters, reviews and publish books. They learn History through Story of the World which is fascinating to our whole family. We also enjoyed the Acton Business Fair where children become entrepreneurs and get to sell their products to the community. So much learning happened during that project! Acton instills in children that they are “heroes” on their own journey and heroes face hard times and work to overcome them. Acton is changing the face of education and we are so blessed that we get to be a part of this community of young heroes!”
