Awesome place and its free! Love the trail and the secluded camping that's available down below...and water! Park is always pretty busy.
Great camp site!
I can't say enough good things about this park. It has 15 FANTASTIC primitive camp sites around it's ~4 mi loop. You'll find many unofficial sites throughout the park, as well. I suggest you go explore and find a new gem! If you go camping before the long grasses take length, and before the ticks are in full swing, then you can take advantage of the little Meadows intermixed with the woodland ridges. Have fun!!!
Some people don't like swimming in the lake but I would rather swim in this part of the lake then any other. Although it is a little bit freaky with three foot Crest waves hitting you in the face in such cold water going out to the yellow pipe bouie surrounding the swimming area I believe the Woodridge public use area has made me a stronger swimmer than any other swimming I've ever done. I really recommend just taking some goggles and going for it because it's incredible what you can do when you put your mind to it.
Love the fact that there is a free camping area near Kansas. No shower, but close to the lake. They had water pumps, but couldn't figure out how they worked. Washrooms on site and there was lots of room even in peak season.
(lake pictures are from a campsite about av hour hike in)
