  I LOVE living here! ❤️ The office staff is so nice and maintenance has provided same day service for the year I've lived here. Usually, maintenance can be the #1 complaint. Not at this community! Honestly, they care about their residents and it shows. Apartment living can be tricky and a good place is VERY hard to find. If you are looking for a new home. Don't think twice, this is the place for you! West End at City Center is definitely Lenexa's best kept secret!

  Summary:
  
  From the outside, the apartments are attractive and well laid out. The developer clearly hired an architect. The complex is unique, and it is obvious that a ton of planning was done. No two adjacent buildings look exactly the same.
  
  When we first arrived, my wife and I noticed the dumpsters and air conditioners are cleverly hidden from sight. Covered parking is recessed into the buildings themselves and is very sturdy and safe for nice vehicles.
  
  The free outdoor pool is surrounded by manicured flowers and landscaping, and the fitness center far exceeded our expectations for an apartment complex.
  
  Inside, the floor plan is well done and generally attractive. The lighting is "perfect". What I mean is that it's not bright like a prison break is going on, but it's also not too dim or spread out. Appliances and countertops are new. The toilet is a name brand and could probably flush a small dog.
  
  One downside, however, is the paint and carpeting in the non-premium units is of a lower quality. The paint is vulnerable to scuffing and stains when attempts are made to clean scuffs.
  
  The community layout is private enough you can imagine you live in a private residence and ignore everyone, or close enough for making friends and grilling out with neighbors.
  
  Additionally, the office accepts packages and even emails/texts you the tracking number of the accepted package.

  Demographics:
  
  Despite having some pricey larger options, a surprising number of residents are actually sub-30 and live alone (with lap-dogs).
  
  *************
  Renting Advice:
  
  Westend has a higher standard rent than surrounding places but definitely on par with what you get.
  
  **Do** check for specials. My wife and I moved in during a non-standard time and got an awesome deal with 2 months of rent free for a 1-year lease.

  Here are a couple of examples of how we have been treated well since moving in:
  
  Example 1:
  
  We had a minor AC issue in early July. Only one half of the apartment would get cold. I called and explained to the main office and even said "It's no big deal," to the attendant. Instead of brushing this off as a minor issue, Westend maintenance arrived at the apartment in about an hour.
  
  Maintenance was extremely professional; he checked Freon charge, ventilation, and air filter status. Nothing explained what was wrong. Still not satisfied that our (minor) issue was solved, Westend sent maintenance again the next day, bringing an HVAC specialist with them. They climbed to the rooftop AC units to investigate, only to find there was too much Freon in our air conditioning unit.
  
  The extra effort was a huge help.
  
  Example 2:
  
  On a different occasion, my wife and I thought we found eggs from a cockroach-type bug. Exterminators arrived within 8 business hours, investigated, and treated the apartment for us free of charge. It turns out we were wrong, and it was just a beetle that came from a potted plant we brought into the apartment.
  
  For the record, Westend has **NEVER** had a case of bedbugs or cockroaches. That's very cool.

  I honestly really enjoyed living here. They are always actively trying to improve the living experience for the residents and give that luxury feel. Danielle in the front office went above and beyond for us when we first moved in, she found us the absolutle best option within our price range. Me and my fiancé will always remember our first apartment here fondly. The only reason we didn’t renew our lease is because we are looking towards houses now. Everything about this apartment complex made me feel comfortable and it will be missed.

  1) Have had a few billing problems (why I don't set the auto-payment) but if you send an email as to why you disagree or if charged twice for an item or if not sure payment went through they are good about getting it fixed right away/not charging late fees, just have to communicate with them. Bill will not fully visible on line till first day of the month, have a 3 day window to pay.
  2) Staff is awesome!!
  3) Price is a little high. Very long lease, read it all.
  4) I think the a/c - heating units are a little old, electric runs $70-120/month and I keep heat on 67 when I'm home and air 78 when I'm home. On this note, windows are not energy efficient, you can tell the difference in temperature around windows, I put weather wrapping
  around them in the winter to cut down on cold air.
  5) I have only had 3 maintenance issues in the last 1.5 years, always good about getting to tickets within 24-48 hours. They always do good work, never leaves a mess.
  6) Valet trash service should be optional, I'm not a fan of paying the $25/month for it. I can take the trash down to dumpers myself. Only thing I like is that recycling is an option (though I have not spied to see if the recycle bags just go into the dumpster anyway)
  7) Good location, don't hear I-435 at all but green space around the area is being overtaken by all the construction.
  8) The office takes boxes for you and sends out text/email letting you know it arrived.
  9) Water bill is split between residences of your building so be kind and don't waste, I have not had a bill over $17, usually $12
  10) I don't have issues with noise, neighbors are not loud, walls are typical thinner apartment style walls.
  11) No issues with bugs!!!
  12) Storm shelter under leasing office is a great bonus, nice to have a place to go, it is spacious and they keep old lawn chairs in it
  13) Covered parking is $60/month, parking is not an issue, there is plenty
  14) Can rent washer/dryer units or use own (full size units)
