Friends of Zoo Gift Shop

Excellent layout, friendly staff, plenty "hands on" for the kids to do. Mostly Native Kansas animals, but some I've never even heard of, and I've lived in southern Kansas my entire life. If you bring kids, don't overlook the prairie dog tunnel! I've paid much more for a lot less at other places.

For a free small town zoo, the gift shops and grounds are excellent! The exhibits are interested and well maintained! Definitely worth the stop!

You can tell by the animals that they are well cared for, and the fact they have a rehab facility for Kansas native species...not just one type of animal...they have a passion for what they do.
Just recently they got a new educator that does awesome outreach during birthday parties.
Thinking of having my kids volunteer here with me.
Get a slushie in the gift shop and take a train ride.
Sometimes they do tortoise feedings too.
Great FREE!!! place to take your kids but bring some extra cash to make a donation to keep it going.

Great little zoo! We love going there, makes for some quality and fun family time!

This is a free zoo that would be an excellent value if they charged. It is very photograph friendly and the animals are managed to be active during open hours. They also have several small animals not normally found in zoos like raccoon, road runners, red fox, and the cacomistle I have never seen before. Great zoo
