A great place to practice the valid Hebrew roots of our Christian faith.
This part of the Body of Messiah takes their mission seriously of living out the Greatest Commandment of the Shema and loving others. These people are from all walks of life and are genuine in their faith and support of each other. Yes, Jews and gentiles gather together to worship in Hebrew, English and offer Spanish interpretation. They stream the Shabbat service on their website. Rabbi John Powledge’s death unto life eternal has challenged the congregation and made natural growth in the body. Wonderful people and a spirit of worship marked with love, reverence and a lot of children enjoying it too. Listen to some of the podcast sermons.
Wonderful place.. I love going to the Sabbath service
There is a misunderstanding amongst those unfamiliar with Remnant of Israel regarding where it stands and what the mission of those attending is. To the Christian who visits, it may be foreign to you regarding how the service is held and in the way the Hebrew language which is likely unfamiliar to you is recited and sung throughout the service. It may catch you off guard when you visit and someone greets you with a happy “Shabbat Shalom!”, you may be confused as to how to respond (hint: repeat “Shabbat Shalom” right back). You may wonder if these are Christians or Jews? For many attending the answer is both.
To the Jew who visits, you will likely feel very comfortable with the familiar liturgy, the traditional Kippah and Tallit wearing amongst many men (though it’s not required or expected), and you’ll see a community who reveres and respects following biblically appointed times and dietary laws. There will be a difference though, this community has discovered and embraced their Jewish Mashiach who’s identity is clearly and indistinguishably found in Yeshua as revealed to us all in Isaiah (Yeshayah) 53. You will find joy, life and happiness amongst a community of people who wish to live in a way that is of a pleasing aroma to The Lord Most High.
This may sound very strange to some Christians who may consider visiting, but if that is you please consider what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:20. I hope if you are reading this you take an opportunity to visit Remnant of Israel here in Wichita Kansas every Saturday morning at 10am for Shabbat service or come early at 9am for Torah study! May Adonai Bless you and keep you!
This is a Messianic synagogue. That is a synagogue where gentiles outnumber the Jews and there are lots of superficial Jewish symbols, but a Protestant message. I hope to point out the differences between a synagogue with gentile god-fearers and a church of gentiles doing Jewish things but not walking the Jewish path.
