We love this place! The food is awesome, especially the Alaskan Halibut, KY Hot Brown and the Short Rib Ravioli. The homemade desserts are all great too. We had the Orange Cake with White Chocolate Ganache and the Swiss Chalet Chocolate. It was the first time I tried a Southern favorite too. . . Hot Slaw. Yum. Ask for Jennifer. She is so sweet and will take great care of ya. Will will return to this gem and the porch is beautiful.
Seated in first room to the right upstairs. We were provide rolls with butter, had salmon and choice of two sides (salad and mushrooms), all very good, and a light pumpkin cheesecake served with vanilla ice cream, and coffee. Waitress was very nice and efficient, food came quickly.
My husband and I were staying at Willis-Graves, and walked here for a nice anniversary dinner. We arrived later than expected, but were served up quickly, and with a smile. Our waitress was so sweet, and we ended up boxing up most of our food to-go and enjoyed it at our suite later in the evening. The fried green tomatoes were delicious and our meals were wonderful too. I had fried chicken, which was more than enough for 2, and my husband had the Hot Brown! We'd recommend Tousey House to anyone in the Burlington area seeking out a more high-end dining experience.
I usually am not impressed with burgers, but I decided to try one because they represented it as a specialty. Indeed it was very good. The fries and Cole slaw that came with it were also very good. Together with some very good iced tea it was a very good lunch. It was a little pricey, but the service was great. It was a very nice experience.
People, I don’t know your life, but you need these words in it; Crispy Chicken Thighs, Corn Pudding, and Fried Green Tomatoes.
Tousey House is as good as it gets, no matter what you order, this is the top-shelf, go here to reset your expectations.
It’s like your grandma traveled the world and got a masters degree in the Culinary Arts, then just waits for you to come over so she can hit you with the know-how. They have her dinner rolls. They handle carry out just as well as dining in. This is a world class eatery. I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather go. Now, it’s an old building. Don’t show up for dinner with a tape measure and a level, don’t bring your know-it-all contractor brother-in-law, there’s a curious doorway or 2 in this place, but it’s stable and the food is the absolute best. If you sip, order the old fashioned, they have the big round ice cubes!
