The most supportive people and Assenbly I have ever encountered. Just, enlightened; caring for everyone, not just the choir. Extremely generous, non discrimatory.A growing community of exceptional people.
There is normally a devotional service on Sunday morning at 11am with 10-20 regular attendees. The atmosphere at this devotional is very laid back and informal and anyone/everyone is welcome to attend as one of the main tenants of the Baha'i Faith is the unity of mankind. Folks are very friendly and welcoming.
Another tenant the Baha'i Faith teaches is the fundamental oneness of God and the unity of religions. As such, scripture from a variety of religious traditions (Jewish, Christian, Islamic, Buddhist, Hindu) as well as scripture unique to the Baha'i Faith is read and discussed during the devotional. Baha'is have no clergy, so before the devotional a member of the community will choose a topic (e.g. love, humility, faith, etc.) and select multiple passages on that topic from a variety of religious writings.
During the devotional, those wishing to do so take turns reading each of the passages (no one has to read of they don't want to). After all passages are read the floor is open for anyone to discuss their thoughts, feelings, experience, or understanding of the topic and/or the readings. It's very informal and everyone's opinion is respected.
The people here at the Baha'i Center are incredibly warm and welcoming of people from all backgrounds. There's a wonderful devotional gathering open to the public every Sunday at 11am. They read Writings from different religions about a specific topic each Sunday and then talk about what they've read. It's wonderful!
