If I could give Twinbrook a thousand star review I would. The staff are the most amazing people. They are so thoughtful and caring. Sometimes I cannot believe the wonderful things they do. When my mom was in the hospital several of the staff went to visit her on their own time. The owners and the director are so helpful and thoughtful. The staff really know the residents well and are always thoughtful to know their preferences. The residents are also friendly and caring. When my mom came back from the hospital everyone took special time to greet her and welcome her back. The staff all told me how much they missed her and were so happy she was back. I just cannot say enough about how wonderful twinbrook is is every way. Special thanks to Adrienne. She has been a star for me through every rough place my mom has gone through.
We visited 8 "facilities" before deciding on Twinbrook. The #1 factor in the decision to choose Twinbrook for my mother was the staff. Unlike large corporate owned facilities, Twinbrook is family owned and the owners truly care and do much of the work themselves. Scott and Brad set the tone and hired professional highly courteous staff such as Adrienne in admissions, Jenny at the front desk, Joanne for programs and others. The kitchen staff not only cook very good food, they solicit input from the individual residents about their dietary needs and wants. Food is obviously crucial, so that was our #2 priority. The atmosphere at Twinbrook is very "homey", both the human atmosphere as well as the decor. This was priority #3, though hard to separate from #1. My mother feels much more comfortable in that setting than in some of the fancier facilities we saw. My mother was in a fancy independent living facility in Florida for several years before moving to Louisville so she was able to compare and know what she wants. The 1-bedroom unit that we chose has beautifully updated kitchen and bathroom and is spacious enough for my mother's many bookcases. In addition, the neighborhood is very good with easy access to 264 and 64. As frequent visitors, my brother and I feel comfortable visiting, parking, walking around, etc. If anyone is doing comprehensive research like we did, Twinbrook should definitely be on your short list for a visit. If possible, meet Scott or Brad the owner and you will understand why you feel at home at Twinbrook. I did not write this to gain favor. I am objectively reporting what we observed and why we chose Twinbrook after much research. Everyone needs to do their own due diligence.
I had the chance to visit my uncle at Twinbrook and was really surprised. My only other exposure to assisted living was my grandpa in Michigan and his place was so depressing. Twinbrook was bright, clean, colorful. The staff was really sweet and attentive too. Lunch was served when we were there and the food looked and smelled great. My uncle's room was nice and modern and he seemed really comfortable. This was a really surprisingly nice place.
