Ethan at CMS was great to work with! I appreciate their helpfulness in selecting accessories & easy shipping.
I am new to guitars. I went in and Clay showed me several different options in my price range that fit me for what I was looking for in a guitar. He gave me the good and bad about each model I looked at. He went over the different styles, brands and put them in my hands telling me the difference in each from acoustic to electric. I feel he is very knowledgeable in what he is telling you. ( I have checked it out for myself doing research on what he has told me and he is right on every time.) His prices are comparable and offers some services to guitars you buy from him without the up charge (setup, cleaning and adjustments of the guitar). I also signed up for a month of lessons. Clay mixed it up some asking me what I like to play and started teaching me that style along with the fundamentals.
I took my daughter in to buy a guitar. She was choosing between an electric and acoustic. Clay was amazing. He let us play lots of instruments and was very knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. This was definitely a local experience with great prices as well. I would recommend Clay and his establishment to anyone. Always great to support local businesses as well.
Excellent Guitar / Luthier work. I walked in there about three months ago with a broken strat, Clay fixed the nut at the top of the neck, set the intonation, filed down frets, etc. It played phenominally afterwards! Then I had him redo my 1972 Reissue Fender Telecaster, but this time we replaced the pickups with Curtis Novak handwounds, new tuning hardware, Glendale saddles, etc. I now have $600 guitar that plays like a $3,000 guitar... it is THAT MUCH of a difference! Now the most recent: We went back to that strat, removed the cheapo active stock pickups that came from the Fender factory and replaced them with Lollar Handwound Strat Pickups. WOW!!!! Once again, a standard Guitar Center cheapo strat that plays like a $2,500 guitar! This guy is GREAT... I HIGHLY recommend him over others in the area. Really knows his electronics and background on the different types of guitars. Oh... and did I mention that he is LESS EXPENSIVE than guitar center or any of those big name stores ! This is for real. Hit me up online if you don't believe it.
My daughter takes violin lessons at this shop. Her instructor is very knowledgable as well as talented, with many years of experience with the violin. I appreciate that he takes the time to share insights that would not be readily available from a book. I am thankful my daughter has the opportunity to learn from someone of his skill level. It takes a lot of patience for someone of his level and ability to teach a beginner who is young!
