They took care of the family and respected and treated our loved one with dignity and respect. Hondo and his staff are the best. We really appreciated the loaf of homemade bread for our family. We used it to make French toast for the family on the morning of the burial. We wouldn't think of anyone else to handle our arrangements.

After a lengthy hospitalization, our mother chose to stop dialysis and come home with Hospice Care.
While realistically we knew we wouldn't have a great deal of time left with her, there was still a part of us that hoped & prayed she would sit up in her bed and be healed.....so we didn't reach out to anyone to discuss or to begin her funeral & burial preparations.

We stayed busy taking care of all of mom's medical, physical, spiritual, nutritional and comfort wants & needs around the clock. We were always sitting at mom's bedside softly reminiscing, alternating between wiping eachother's tears, to joking & laughing, taking calls from her family, her friends, doctors, and nurses. Our home stayed so full & busy with all those mom loved and those who loved her, day in & day out.......that once again, we didn't reach out to anyone to discuss or to begin her funeral & burial preparations.

So when mom passed late at night on February 5th, 2023 after being home for only one short week, the only definitive answer we had was for Hearne's Funeral Home to be called. Nothing more, nothing less.

From the very second Hondo & Andrea entered our home to pickup our mother, they showed the utmost respect and compassion for our family, and continued to do so until the very last i was dotted and t was crossed.

None of us had ever planned a funeral before & didn't know where to even begin. Hondo walked us through every single detail with such compassion, patience, and grace. His calming voice and constant presence soothed frayed nerves and it also helped to relieve a great deal of stress knowing that he was taking such loving care of our mom and would guide us through the necessary steps for her services.

Hondo, Donna, and Andrea stayed in contact with us regarding every single detail of our mother's visitation, funeral, and transportation to Hazard for her graveside service and burial in our family cemetery.

Our mom looked beautiful (as always), her Memorial Folder was perfect, the slideshow with pictures our family sent and the music Playlist for her visitation & funeral all turned out absolutely perfect as well.
Their many personal touches meant more than they will ever know.

The dedication & compassion that Hondo & all of his staff give to each one of their grieving families is so heartwarming because it is truly honest and heartfelt! The kind words, the condolences, the gentle reassurances, the phone calls to make certain everything was on track and/or the exact way we wanted it done for our mom meant so much to us, more than we could ever put into words. We may forget the exact words someone says to us...but we never forget how someone makes us feel, and Hondo made us feel safe, secure, and helped to relieve a great deal of stress and tension. We will always remember and always be grateful for him making us feel safe & secure in that our mom was well taken care of.

We will always remember the kindness, warmth, gentle guidance, patience, respect, empathy, and compassion that Hondo and every member of his staff treated us with from the moment they picked mom up, to patiently & gently walking us through the steps of planning and implementing a visitation, funeral, graveside service & burial.

God puts the right people in our lives, right when we need them the most.
Thank you Hondo, Donna, Andrea, and everyone else at Hearne Funeral Home who had a part in taking such exceptional care of our mom and our family during such difficult & trying time. You helped relieve a great deal of our stress & worries so that we were able to mourn and grieve losing our mom.
