Very nice atmosphere. Very peaceful and you can feel the love of God
Elder Damon Dolezol and Elder Keldon Valliere are very honest and hard working people. They have helped us clean our front yards. We really appreciate their help. Thank you so much and God bless you.
This is a Mormon church (for those who don't know from the title). People are nice. The entire experience on Sundays lasts 2 hours:
1st hour is "Sacrament Meeting" (currently at 10am) where everyone, including children, meet in the chapel and take a form of communion. Then lay members of the church give talks. Because no one is a professional speaker, the service can be fairly dry. They also sing traditional Christian Protestant music (with a few uniquely Mormon hymns) accompanied by an organ.
2nd hour is Sunday School. Children go to age-specific classes for the 2nd. If you're new to Mormonism, ask anyone about the "Gospel Principles" class. This class teaches most of the fundamentals of Mormonism to potential (called "investigators") and new members.
For adults, during the 2nd hour and alternating between biweekly, men and women split up into separate classes. Women go to "Relief Society" and men go to "Priesthood." In Priesthood, boys and men gather for about 15 minutes and listen to announcements. Then they split into separate groups. Young men from 12-17 go to specific classes. Men aged 18+ go to "Elders Quorum."
If you're not sure where to go or what to do, feel free to ask anyone. Usually everyone is more than eager to help you out.
Interesting notes about Mormonism: Mormons are typically socially conservative (anti-LGBT doctrine, pro-life, patriarchal). They also believe their organization is the truest religion on earth and that their leader (based in Salt lake City, Utah) is a real prophet who talks to God. They like to brand themselves as the family oriented church. Also, they believe paying full-tithe (10% of income) is fundamental to gaining salvation.
If you're interested to learn more, ask about talking to the missionaries. They also give out free copies of the Book of Mormon, which is core Mormon scripture (as well as the Bible).
The one and only, may the truth set you free! Amen Heavenly Father!
I have been going to this church for quite a few years now. Their session for the Young Single Adults (Sunday 12:30-3:30) ages 18-32 is a wonderful way to learn about our Savior, Jesus Christ, and hangout with the singles who are my age. I've made many friends and gone to many activities (Monday at 7pm, Thursday 8pm). I love how accepting and friendly they are. :)
