Dr. Mai has been my Primary Care Physician since right after Hurricane Katrina as about 1/3 of the total physicians in the G.N.O. area left town and never returned, including my physician which I had been seeing for less than a year. The one that I had selected right after moving to Kenner from Ponchatoula in May of 1989, retired about in late '04. Dr. Mai's best lines to me as a patient were: "Mr. Smith, you are your own best doctor, you know more about your own body that I could ever know, just tell me in your own word what's you believe to be the problem today and we will dive in and find out the best way to treat or cure it." And, as per my constant struggle with morbid obesity which wore out both hips, one knee, and a back thusfar, he simply said: "Mr. Smith, all your blood work has been checking out normal, you have no organ problems, your main problem is skeletal. It's like putting a Hummer body on a Volkswagen frame, so keep working on the weight." Great doctor, funny, laughs with you not at you, aware of tests that need performing for your age group...all you have to do is inform him of what's wrong, for how long, the pain or uncomfortability level, and what OTC meds have you been taking on your own for it, for how long and he and his staff does the rest. Before leaving it's always a good idea to ask the receptionist to make a note for the staff to make a photocopy of the lab blood work results, if any, and send to you or you will pick it up. That way you know about as much as or more about your own body and what the next step is in treatment after Googling all the lab tests which may show out of range on the results sheet.

This place is top knotch and i dont just throw out 5 star ratings...in the office 10-15 minutes after completing paperwork and out for a total visit time of 30 minutes.

Dr. Quynh Mai is an exceptional doctor! My sister referred him to me many years ago after her first visit and he has been my and her primary/family doctor since. I have willingly referred him to many of my family members and friends who also continue to see Dr. Mai and feel the same way i do. He is thorough, professional, kind, caring and compassionate. He is one of very few doctors today that actually listen to you and take time to answer any concerns or questions you may have. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a primary/family physician. PJACKSON

Dr. Quynh Mai is an excellent doctor! I have referred him to my family members and many now see Dr. Mai. He has been my doctor for many years. He is thorough, professional, kind, and caring. He takes the time to answer all questions. Dr. Mai noticed, through routine blood work, that a protein was high in my blood, and recommended that I see a hematologist/oncologist to check it out. When I did, I was told that because my primary care doctor sent me, the condition was caught early (cancer). I was very grateful to Dr. Mai! I will always be grateful for him. I recommend him highly!
