Laurel Valley is a great place to stop by when you're in the Thibodaux area and want a little history
We stopped at the Laurel Valley Store and had the most interesting encounter with Mister Danny Foret and Miss Kitty. It was so nice to meet him and listen to his stories while going throughout the store. If in Thibodeaux, make sure to pay him a visit 👌🏼👌🏼🇺🇸
Sad but amazing!!if you're interested in learning and seeing history with your own eyes you should definitely go. Amazing that these cabins are still standing
Interesting store and historical buildings. Free admission, but donations are accepted. Store has an amazing amount of stuff as part of the museum and for sale, but they are cash only and my driver was plumb out of cash. Too bad for me! There was some sort of meeting going on when I went in, I was asked to sign the guest book several times, where I was visiting from several times and reassured by several people that it was ok that I was there and looking around, which was nice the first time but I was feeling awkward by the fifth time. Cute place.
What an interesting find. There are around 55 buildings that housed sharecroppers at one time. The man in the general store was so sweet and he gave us so much information.
There are ruins of the original sugar mill which is quite interesting to see.
I recommend everyone seeing this place
