I highly recommend taking the time for both the guided tour of the Stern mansion and the self guided tour of the gardens. Our docent Wilma provided interesting details throughout the magnificent home, and the gardens are spectacular! Impressive from start to finish.
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic time here! We did the version with the house tour, which I would definitely recommend to others. Our docent/tour guide Sharon did a fantastic job. It was also just us on our tour, so she was able to talk directly with us and answer our individual questions. It made for a very personalized experience. The whole thing really exceeded our expectations.
The house is interesting. Built late 1920s but had many of the conveniences we have today.
We went in January so not much blooming in the gardens. I'm sure would be spectacular in spring and summer.
We ended up here on a surprisingly cold winter day in New Orleans. We weren't sure what to expect, but had some extra time and were looking for a good option for something to do indoors. I'm so glad we ended up at Longue Vue. Our tour guide was great -- knew the history of the whole house so well and had great details to share. A beautiful home owned by a very interesting family. The grounds are lovely as well and though we didn't get to see them at their best as our visit was in November, I imagine they are stunning at their peak.
