Abita Mystery House / UCM Museum

This is an offbeat wacky fun place to visit! Take your time and explore every building and appreciate the creativity. It's a little on the dark side with all of the animal creations. We spent a good deal of time at the "shard" house! Don't skip the restroom it's absolutely a creative space. May not be a place for very young kiddos.

Yup, “mystery house” is definitely the correct term for this place. Super cool and outlandish. It was especially fun to go in October, just because it adds to the Halloween vibes.

The exhibits are so random and some look handmade, like a popsicle stick marble contraption and clay dolls. But also gator heads and antique items. You can push buttons or pay a quarter for a more interactive experience. Sounds weird, but you’ll just have to visit it for yourself to see what I mean!

It was worth the $5/person entry fee for some fun. The only complaint I have is that since it’s in a neighborhood, it was tough to get a parking spot when they were packed.

Pretty great roadside attraction!! It is more of a private art installation than a museum, but it is ran by the artist himself. Built by him over the last 23 yrs. Lots of interesting things to look at and experience. Found it via a YouTuber that had visited a few times and recommended it. Glad we pulled off the highway to experience it ourselves!

ABSOLUTE BLAST. Bring quarters - some of the things inside need quarters to run, and we were super sad we didn’t have any! It’s completely - completely - worth the small admission. Also, the gift shop sells real art from real local artists.
