“Ms Delores is a book of knowledge, and so passionate about the museum.. we would have talked to her all day. I highly recommend stepping back in time for a moment to enjoy the relics of the past, as well as the employee’s wonderful character.”

Tangipahoa African American Heritage Museum & Veterans Archives

“Very informative museum. It is a work in progress, as most small private museums that I know of are. They have an event in June they are hoping to have more settled exhibits by then. There is a wealth of knowledge to learn here even now. I am glad I found this on the list of places documenting the African American Heritage Trail and I am glad I came. I would suggest this museum for everyone with the slightest inclination to learning about the past so it doesn't repeat itself.”

“Entry is $5 cash only, don't ask about credit cards or any of that there Venmo or what have you. Call before you come, usually only open on the weekends. Person who created this collection is a retired police officer, Korean War Veteran and I could not tell if he was joking about some of his stories, or serious about the whole thing. He didn't want many pictures taken of the inside and didn't trust the gnome. I do swear that I mean no harm at all to anyone with my gnome and it feels weird to be questioned. There is one section dedicated to fallen officers of the law who passed while on duty, with only a few missing. There are old cameras, an old pay phone, many tools, many broken pottery pieces, much glass and farming equipment. It took about an hour for the tour and there was a lot to look at. He knows the area well. I was only kind of creeped out about just how much he knew. There were some knickknacks from Avon when they first came out and he seems to think well of Avon and the parties women had.”

“Great way to spend an afternoon. This museum was super cute and well designed, a perfect place to bring young children. The staff was super friendly and helpful, one of them even gave us an unofficial tour. They have fossils, preserved animals, various rocks and crystals, and lots of displays with info explaining what you see. There are quite a few objects that you are allowed to touch. There is a scavenger hunt for the kids and a play area where they can dig. Totally worth the $8 ticket to get out of the cold and see some interesting things.”
