Chesapeake Midwifery

With the help of Chesapeake Midwifery, we welcomed our 4th son into this world. From the start of the pregnancy, I was excited to work with Susan and Katie. They were informed and knowledgeable, always available to reach when I had a question or concern, and did a fabulous job of helping us through this pregnancy. Their knowledge, wisdom, years of experience, and kindness were apparent with each visit, as they took the time to listen, provide medically accurate feedback and made sure I was heard.

For the actual birth, my husband and I knew we were in great hands from the relationship we had built over the past 9 months. They approached our birth as a team and worked together to help us bring Phin safely into this world. I am so thankful to them and for them! If we were to have another, I would not hesitate to use their services again.

I’m from the U.K and when I found out I was pregnant in the US (and due to Covid, didnt have the option to return home to my family and my familiar medical system to give birth) I felt very, very anxious and worried. I’d not heard great things about how birth is approached here and I really wanted a non medicated & as natural birth as possible. I was a patient at an ob/gyn but didn’t feel heard or known. After doing a lot of thinking & researching we decided that a home birth would be right for us - but it still felt nerve wracking & a bit risky - we felt like we were ‘going against the grain’ but for some reason I still felt peace around it.

I trusted this feeling & it honestly turned out to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. I went from being extremely nervous about my birth and powerless in how it would go, to feeling like I could plan & prepare for the birth I really wanted.

Susan & Katie were an amazing support, always extremely professional & knowledgable. They put me at ease during my pregnancy and I had 100% confidence that I was in good hands when it came to the delivery. Their experience showed through every communication with them.

The birth itself was just as I’d hoped, private in our home, no complications. I was able to relax and feel assured because Susan & Katie were there. I especially liked not having to make the call on when to do go to the hospital & avoid any ‘car contractions!’ which I remember from my first not being something I wanted to repeat!

My beautiful baby boy was born in our bedroom and the after care was superb. It was unbelievably nice to just be able to rest in my own bed, with a cup of tea & toast whilst Susan & Katie looked after both me & baby boy, making sure we were both doing well.

These midwives are skilled, knowledgable, professional, intuitive, kind and caring. There is no one else I would have wanted helping bring my baby into the world and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for turning around this pregnancy & birth experience for me. It will be a memory we treasure forever.

Katie and Susan were incredibly kind, attentive, supportive, knowledgeable, and compassionate at the birth of our second baby. I had always desired a home birth and boy was I pleased with our choice! I had a hospital birth with my first baby and encountered so many things I wish I could have changed when thinking about it in retrospective. Birthing at home in the company of these awesome midwives was such a great experience and I highly recommend their services. Thank you Katie and Susan!

Katie & Susan are wonderful! They’re attentive, considerate, and knowledgeable, while also very professional.
I decided late in my pregnancy that I wanted to attempt a VBAC at home, and they were very very supportive from the start. Baby also decided to be late- very late- and Katie and Susan were on top of making sure baby was safe inside. They scheduled appointments regularly to check baby, and also talked about inducing (naturally), and my other options very thoroughly. When it came time for delivery, they were prompt, and offered guidance, but also gave me space to labor.
They work great as a team, and I’m happy to have had the pleasure of being in their care. I would recommend them to anyone desiring a home birth.

I had an incredible pregnancy and home birth thanks to these ladies. I could not recommend MORE! They were always available and so supportive. My second birth was such a different (and positive) experience than my first was in a hospital.
