“Hoffman's ice cream takes me back to my childhood. You walk in the door and just the vibes you get from this little country store is wonderful. The little hand packed candies on the shelf, homemade cookies, homemade ice cream and yes even shrimp salad. The store is super clean and the workers go out of their way to assist you. Yesterday they gave me a free sugar cookie with my order and it practically melted in my mouth and the taste was as if it came from Grandma's kitchen. “I'm stubborn and for a long time I was having episodes of intense pain and chose to ignore it. I also wasn't seeing a primary care physician (PCP) at the time which would only make things worse. As you might guess, this only worked for so long until one day I had to be rushed to the ER. I was ultimately told I needed surgery ASAP and they referred me to a surgeon. The problem was, the surgeon wasn't covered by my insurance which wasted two weeks of critical time. As a result, I needed to see a PCP to get a new referral which meant more time would be wasted in the process. Because I didn't have a PCP, this meant I had to find one ASAP to get the necessary referral. I first contacted a DIFFERENT doctor's office who told me to wait for a phone call back in a "few days". This particular office didn't seem to care I was in intense pain or that this was a pretty dire situation (although I agree I hold a lot of the blame for making it a dire situation in the first place). Anyhow, not only did they not seem to be concerned, they never even called me back either. This meant I wasted several weeks from the ER visit, to the surgeon who didn't take my insurance, to waiting for the return phone call that never came. Due to all this waiting my health issue had progressed a lot. I needed to see a doctor as quickly as possible or I was going to be in serious trouble. My health was quickly deteriorating at this point -- I couldn't even hold down water at this point! This is where Dr. Broadwater and his office came into play. I contacted their office and explained the situation. They expressed a ton of concern and set up an appointment the morning of the very next day. When I arrived, their staff and the doctor were absolutely AMAZING. They were able to get me a surgeon within 24hrs (and even attempted to get it done the same day)! Here's the kicker: When I saw the surgeon I discovered my issue had developed into an infection. My blood levels were way out of whack. I immediately had to go to the hospital and spend four days there being IV'd antibiotics and pain meds. The first night I was in such a bad way I remember hallucinating due to lack of sleep and fluids. Fortunately, the infection soon went away and I'm now on my way to getting the critical surgery I desperately need. To sum it up: Doctor Broadwater and his staff's quick response likely prevented damage to vital organs or possibly even something worse. To say I'm pleased with the level of care I received at this office is an understatement. Seriously... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! Needless to say, I intend to break old habits and become a regular client here.”
