We love it ! Not far from Washington DC, the route to get in there is beautiful it’s even an overlook on the way. The trails range from all types and the handicap trail is perfect for the kids. Even though we did the easy trail which was easy enough and beautiful all the way through. Unfortunately, the end isn’t parallel with the waterfall and it’s no way to see the front, it’s blocked off with signs and a fence. I’m not sure which trail leads to the front of the waterfall but I figure once my kids are older we can try again.

There were pros and cons to this campground. First, the falls are absolutely gorgeous. It's probably worth it just to see those. The hiking trail to the falls is nice too, and there are two options for different ability levels. The camping sites, however, are very small and in some places so crammed together that you might have your tent backed up right against two or three neighbors. The ground is also very stony so they have provided flat gravel covered areas. These areas must fit your tents, tables, cars and anything else that takes up ground space. In some cases that makes the site crowded and frustrating with no room to play. In other cases the site abuts a field or woods. The gravel is small and is okay to sleep on, but gets into everything. Finally, the camp host near our site was great. He was friendly and polite and a great neighbor while we were there.

We visit the mini cabins in this park every year. October is a fun time because it's not hot and buggy. The cabins have a double bed and a set of bunk beds, electricity, a front porch, fire ring and picnic table. It's a short walk to the restrooms where there are modern facilities and hot showers. The staff is always welcoming. The cost is reasonable so a family can come here without too much expense. The Falls is nearby as are hiking trails and a lake area.

Had a great time, just wish the camp store had been open. Everything else was great though. Lots of raccoons so make sure your food is secure.
