If you're thinking about joining... DO IT! My kids and I consider it our second home. Mr.Sklenar always goes above and beyond for all the children who walk in those doors. He is great with kids of all ages. I have a 4 yr old and 8 yr old who are always so excited for karate nights. I spent 2 years looking for the right sport to put my oldest in and nothing worked out until we found ATA Martial Arts. Those 2 years were definitely worth the wait!
Two and a half weeks ago I bribe (mac and cheese) my youngest son (11) to try martial arts again. My first two tries he just ran around and had very little interest. This is not a slight to the other studios, he was just young and not a good fit for him. Anyway, two and a half weeks ago we walked into ATA Aberdeen and for the first time my youngest participated and enjoyed himself. This is great since he loves computers most days. Bonus is I don't have to fight him to leave the house for ATA practice. 🤸🏾♂️🤸🏾♂️🤸🏾♂️
We wanted to put our 10 year old son in some sort of sport to help take away from screen time. We had tried lacrosse and basketball but unfortunately those didn't pan out for him. Our son is very fidgety and has a short attention span. We wanted something that could help our son focus, follow directions, teach responsibility and respect all while being active and having fun. We had seen the ad on Facebook $21 for 21 days and thought let's give it a try. We figured this was an introductory price as we expected to be asked to sign up for some sort of program once the 21 days were over. At our son's first class Mr. Sklenar was very informative about if at anytime we wanted to cancel we could. I can understand how it could catch some off guard at the first class but again we had no problems asking questions to get prompt answers about canceling and etc.
That being said after the first week of class we saw a huge difference in our son. He was excited to go to class, he was paying attention, focused and had a boost confidence...he actually cared and wanted to go to class instead of staying home begging to playing video games. We are now at the end of our 21 days and we've signed up for the year. Mr. Sklenar and the other instructors are very patient and kind with all the kids, and there are alot of kids to coordinate and instruct. We are so excited to have ATA in Aberdeen, we can't wait for his first official tournament. We are truly looking forward to seeing our son take the principles of ATA and applying them at home and in school.
We just finished our 21 day trail and my 10 year old is hooked. Mr. Sklenar is a fantastic instructor. He keeps the all the kids engaged and gives them a powerful message at the start and end of every class. The dojo and equipment is all clean and in great condition. I am very happy with everything.
