“Terrific studio, thoughtful and generous staff — all the ingredients for a great recording experience. These days, it's possible to record and mix some instruments decently using home recording gear — I do a lot of that for the recordings I make for my own albums, and for some soundtrack work. But for trickier tasks and musical combinations, there's still no substitute for a well-equipped studio with talented engineers. I recently booked a sessions at Red Bridge studios to record a rising star sax player with violin, and the skill and care of Bob and his staff made things run super smoothly. At home, I could have futzed around for 45 minutes trying to get my mic placement right; Bob deftly knew exactly where to position three vintage mics to yield a gorgeous recording, and we were rolling in minutes. We got through six tunes in two hours(!) And, because of the quality of the sound, the sax and violin tracks needed very little post-production tweaking, and much less work for me than if I'd tried the session in my home studio. Very highly recommended.”
