If you are comparing title companies, you are already ahead of where I was before the sale of our home. I wouldn't have thought about the importance of choosing the right title company, or the criticality of having the right "team within a team" at the title company. Now I wouldn't think about using or recommending anyone other than Lakeside Title, or the "team within a team" -- Marc & Beth Malakoff and Vicki were the three I dealt with personally -- at their Ellicott City, Maryland office.

As was necessary to maintain our accelerated timeline, they guided and often even shepherded me along the path from "acceptance of an offer" to "acceptance of funds" (at closing). At various points in between, fear/uncertainty/doubt problemetized my hopes for a successful outcome at closing. That trifecta of mental troublemakers was no match for Lakeside Title's & our assigned team's experience, competence, and anticipatory communication.

Leading up to the closing, Vicki managed the "papers" (forms, addendums, e-signatures), and Beth coordinated the "people" (notifications, scheduling). At the table on closing day, Marc navigated & notarized the final (ink pen!) signatures, addressing questions or curiosities that arose.

Wherever possible, and to the greatest degree permissible, Lakeside has modernized what otherwise can feel like an antiquated closing process fueled by forms, faxes, and photocopies. Indeed, their automated text message system preempted each request for paperwork with a concise explanation of its necessity, and accompanied each request for a form to be filled out (always digitally; no print & fax back) with step-by-step instructions. Indeed, after closing, their chat bot (Rover) was the first to notify me of the wire transfer of funds.

Well done Marc, Beth, Vicki..... and Lakeside Title!

Had a great experience with Lakeside Title Company. We were first time home buyers and Beth did a wonderful job of explaining every page we signed. We had to bring 2 of our kids to the closing on the house and they handled everything in a friendly professional manner. All in all we were there a little over an hour and for comparison sakes we were at an auto refinance appointment with the bank for 3 hours. Thank you Beth and all the wonderful folks at Lakeside!
