Francis Scott Key Elementary School

My son Zion was a new student @ Frances Scott Key Elementary school for 17/18 school year and I was nervous at first. I must say that this school is not what I initially expected. I am beyond pleased with the teachers, the staff and the overall system including the class dojo appilication which is a communication app that allows you to converse with the teachers and to be apprised of homework, behavior, field trips etc. This year we did alot of reading and math workbooks at home to improve his skills I also incorporated some learning applications onto his tablet and I really see anotice a huge difference! I must give a special shot out to Miss Stephens who is Zions' science teacher she is beyond phenomenal!! She really has a passion for teaching she is patient kind and treats her students as her own children! I am forever grateful for her. My son had a few nosebleeds amd nurse Crawford always called me and kept me in the loop. My son will be attending this school until he graduates as I am comfortable with the staff. I really appreciate the fact that I can send him to a school that truy cares. These chidren are the future and the teachers and staff cannot do it alone.

I have to actually retract my statement that I made about this school... It was under the name Momma Stroman... Since the review was made the staff has changed dramatically and I do not think it was due to the review. This school has it's issues like any other school, but I truly think the staff do the best that they can to help and educate the children. They are faced with large classes and a wide range of children among all the cuts / policy changes that they have to adhere to due to the pg county school board.. I tip my hat off to the teachers and staff.. I do think that we need to do a fundraiser for the school as far as getting them a new audio system in the cafeteria for school performances, etc... The system that they have in place was having technical difficulty last time I was there... If any of you are in PTA.. Maybe you should mention that.. This school can be better if we make it better as a group
