He was very patient with us, especially when I discovered a mild panic moment when it came time to submerge and practice breathing - he just gave me time and repeated attempts to get used to it (which I did). He went over a lot of the skills and explained things very well, then let us play around in the deep end of the pool at the end of the lesson (12-15 feet, I believe).
