Ensign Cowall Shelter

Nice shelter right next to a parking lot. This is great for when you want to do a little camping but want easy access so you can lug food or firewood you normally wouldn't when you're doing some proper backpacking. The shelter has always been clean when I've been there. There's some overflow camp tent pads nearby but they are kind of annoying to pitch in and are on a slope.

Two floor shelter with camping pads further down the trail. Water source about 1/4 mile down (at a T intersection, the AT makes a sharp right and the blue blazes to water is a sharp left). Typical privy. Was a very welcomed shelter after a rainy day on the trail. RockHopper and I made our first AT overnight here.

Great shelter. Tent sites need some maintenance.

Good shelter, easy spring access, well maintained with many tent pads nearby. Simple shelter will give the respite a hiker needs.
