Berkshire Trout Hatchery - Hatchery Building

Timing is everything as they were milking the eggs out of the female lake trout and fertilizing them. Nice, quiet place to walk around and peek into the fish igloos.

I love this place! I worked here as a teenager with the Youth Conservation Corps. It is now entirely run by volunteers.

The staff have always been happy to take the time to talk and explain about what they do. Great place to schedule a group visit such as with your scout group.

Fun place to visit to see trout being raised. 20 minutes is sufficient to see everything including the little exhibition inside.

The big surprise is a couple of excellent hiking trails on the premises. The trail head is right by the parking lot and the trails are decently marked. Our dog loves it there!
