Attended the annual Barktoberfest hosted by Sweet Paws Rescue. A great venue for an amazing organization!
Events here are a lot of fun for the whole family (including dogs) Harvest Fest in Sept being a favorite with old time baseball, animals, live music, and Ipswich brewery.
I went here before they opened at 11:00am for tours so I did not take the tour but it is a very peaceful area. They have 2 horses as well as sheep and goats on the property. There are a lot of mosquitoes in this area so bring bug spray and if you go early just know that the grass will be extremely soaked from the night before as the water soaked through my hiking boots. I believe that they also offer kid friendly events as well. There is plenty of parking at no charge.
Well-done tour through a historic house dating to 1690. Historic New England has carefully set it up to display various periods in the long life of the house. Different rooms are furnished to different periods. In some places, holes in walls are left open so that you can see how the house has been changed and modernized over the years.
There's too much to say about how wonderful this place is. It's one of the most peaceful places to visit, whether you go to spend time with their rescued farm animals or are just looking for a spot to sit in the shade and ponder, I love it and it's so beautiful. If you go during the week and go during the regular work day it's rare to find anyone there besides the animals and it's surreal and lovely. On the weekends they have vintage baseball in the back field during the season, and other historical events like revolutionary war reenactments, and the house itself is so unique, it's worth going on a day when they have tours.
