What is really helping me to improve with the guitar, by taking personal lessons from a guitar teacher, who has credentials with a degree in music, with experience, and is creating a custom protocol as to where I am at with my skills, understanding what I want to achieve, with a clear vision on how to get there.
A very important part of the equation is to have a quality guitar, and professionally set up to my specifications for my style, with easy playability.
My first meeting I was accessed for my ability, we started with a custom protocol for immediate improvement, with the professional guidance I need moving forward.
In just a short time I am understanding the mechanics of reading music properly, advancing my skills moving up or down the fret board, learning technique, having fun practicing, playing songs, creating my own style!
Also important to note during these sessions inside information being shared , how, why, what, where, when, everything, anything pertaining to music in the industry.

Ed is a talented player and instructor. I've been taking lessons from him for a few years. As I said he is a great teacher and has gone out of his way in helping me select gear too. He's a good guy, I now consider a friend. I would recommend him to anybody. Check him out you won't be disappointed.
Cannot recommend Ed highly enough, both as a teacher and a person. Ed has more mastery of the guitar and knowledge of music theory than anyone I have ever met. I started taking lessons with Ed as a complete beginner and now I am proficient in rock, jazz, and classical guitar. Any style you wish you explore Ed has a deep understanding of. On top of his vast knowledge Ed is a humble and cool guy. If you are in the area Ed is THE guy to go to.
Ed is a great teacher who has taught me for years and I cannot recommend him enough. He is great at helping his students no matter what level they are at. He is a teacher that breaks down material and makes learning the guitar fun and interesting. He is also just a really friendly guy and extremely knowledgeable. He was also great at guiding me through the Berklee audition process where I now attend school. Best guitar teacher I have had!
I’ve been taking banjo lessons from Ed O’Brien for a few years....as an adult with very little musical experience, I was a bit skeptical about giving it a try. But not only is Ed an amazing musician himself, he’s also a highly skilled and patient educator who figured out my learning style, keeps me motivated, and is building my understanding of music theory in addition to teaching me songs from many different styles of music. He’s also very understanding and flexible if I need to reschedule a lesson. I highly recommend Ed O’Brien regardless of what level you’re already at!
