I have nothing but great things to say about Melissa at Grateful Healing, LLC. My son was nearly 2 years old and was not speaking at all. We had him assessed for Early Intervention and speech services but he was placed on a hugely long waiting list and as a concerned parent I just did not want to wait. I asked my friends for suggestions on speech therapists and a mutual friend of Melissa and I suggested Grateful Healing in Peabody.
I messaged Melissa on Facebook asking about her services, fees, schedule and if she had availability. Not only did she get back to me quickly, she called my out of state insurance and worked with them to assure she could accept it. Then she took us... ready for this... THE SAME WEEK! She had an opening in her schedule that fit us perfectly.
Throughout our time at Grateful Healing, Melissa was completely flexible when we wanted to add days to our week, skip a day due to illness or change a day due to an appointment.
Grateful Healing is run out of her home, with a separate floor dedicated to her business. It is calming and relaxing, with soothing purple walls, a cozy kitchen and a fabulously smelling bathroom. She has an adorable sun porch, and a cute little fish. She also makes the most amazing chocolate chip cookies that both my sons loved. She allowed me to take my oldest son with me when I did not have a sitter. He loved going to see Melissa just as much as my youngest. He had a fondness of her ball pit. Melissa even made sure to send him home a chocolate chip cookie if he was not able to come and he looked forward to it every time.
Melissa is a very dedicated speech pathologist. She spent a number of years working in Early Intervention as well so I loved that her teaching mirrored what my son was learning in EI. William went from being completely shy and silent, to asking to go see Melissa to play. It was wonderful to see him mirror her behaviors and mannerisms and come home saying all the words and phases he learned while at speech therapy.
Melissa is very patient, as evidenced by working with my stubborn little guy who would slowly start talking at home, but remained silent for months at speech. She made sure to cater his sessions to make him comfortable- bringing out his favorite puzzles, books and toys.
If you are looking for a speech pathologist, I highly recommend Melissa. She was wonderful for our family. We will always remember because she gave our son the most important gift ever, the gift of his voice.
My little one had difficulty with language and needed some help. After combing through the list my insurance company sent me I came across Melissa's information. I gave her a call and right off the bat she reassured me that I was not a failure being a mom. The results were phenomenal in such a short period of time. She is really patient with my little one and he looks forward to the sessions with her. His language developed immensely. Instead of pointing at things and cry he started to use his words which made both our lives much easier. We moved away and I wish we could have taken her with us. My little one asks for her all the time. If you are looking for a speech therapist for your little one give Melissa a call. I recommend her wholeheartedly. She is the absolute best.
Melissa has been doing speech therapy with my son Brody for about a year now. She had started working with him when he was in Early Intervention and he had an amazing connection with her right from the start! My family and I loved working with Melissa so much that we decided to have Brody continue working with her after he aged out of EI at 3. Brody continues to work amazingly well with Melissa and I enjoy my visits with her as well! She is really amazing at what she does! Brody, who is now 3 1/2 has an ASD diagnosis and had a major language regression at around 26months. Melissa is helping him find his words/voice again and I couldn't be more grateful!! I highly recommend Grateful Healing!
Melissa is truly amazing at what she does. Our daughter struggled with speech delay and as a result, was often very wary of new people and new environments - except for Melissa! From day one, she made her feel comfortable and at ease and always with a smile on her face. The changes that we saw in her over the two years that we worked with Melissa were amazing. She focused on her expressive language and as her language developed, she became so much more confident in herself and able to connect more with her peers. We are so thankful to have found Melissa and Grateful Healing. She is the best of the best!
